Potential Tour Itnerary Day 1 (Road Trip 1) : Depart Winnipeg - Arrive Falcon Lake Beginning first thing in the morning, with a quick stop at Tim Hortons for a cup of Canadian Joe, and we're on our way out of Winnipeg and off on a short two hour drive towards the rugged country of the Canadian Shield. Our first destination, Falcon Lake offers visitors wakeboarding, horseback riding, hiking, top-notch golfing and more, all in spectacular surroundings. Day 2 (Road Trip 2) : Depart Falcon Lake - Arrive Kenora Departing the next morning, an even shorter drive east (45 minutes) is Kenora. Located on world-famous Lake of the Woods, summer visitors swell this city to many times its usual size, making the place one big party. Wakeboarding, boating, kayaking, and Jet-skiing are just some of the fun you can take in. Day 3 (Road Trip 3) : Depart Kenora - Arrive Minaki Departing around noon (adequeate time to recover from the previous nights libations) the next day is another short 45 minute drive, this time north, which takes you away from people and deep into the Canadian Shield wilderness. Arriving, in Minaki you'll notice how this place is a travellers delight. Once the playground of millionaires, you'll have the opportunity to sleep in a tipi, ride a zip line into a pleasantly cool wilderness lake, rockclimb, mountain bike, and gaze at the majestic Norhtern Lights that light up the nights sky. Day 4 (Road Trip 4) : Depart Minaki - Arrive Mantario Trail Departing the next day in early afternoon, a 90 minute drive takes you en-route to a once in a lifetime opportunity to challenge your stamina and survival skills on the Mantario Trail. Reknowned as one of the best scenic hikes in Canada, the Mantario trail offers visitors a true outdoor adventure. If your a hiker you can't miss experiencing this destination! We enable you to see what the trail has to offer in 3 different ways. (1) You can get off at the South Trailhead, and make the long (at least 4 nights, even if you're Sir Edmund Hillary) hike to the North Trailhead, where we'll pick you up. (2) Alternatively, you can hop off at the south trail head, hike in for a night or two, and then hike back out the same way you came in. (3) The same can be done at the north end. No matter how you choose to do it, it's guaranteed to be an experience that you won't forget. Day 5 (Road Trip 5) : Depart Mantario Trail - Arrive Lac-Du-Bonnet We pick you up mid-afternnon on the day of your scheduled arrival at the North Trail Head, then drive about an hour to Lac-Du-Bonnet with windows down (people who hike for 4-days usually smell great). Once there, you can enjoy a slice of small-town Canadian life, with a refreshing shower, steak, and of course a well deserved beer at the pub as you tell tales about your encounter with black bears. Day 6 (Road Trip 6) : Depart Lac-Du-Bonnet - Arrive Grand Beach Departing later in the afternoon, a 45 minute drive takes you from the quiet of Lac-Du-Bonnet to the circus that is Grand Beach. Rated by Playboy magazine as one of the best beaches in North America, you can lounge and bask in the sun with thousands of others or take a short walk and find your own private spot. You can also challenge the locals to an interantional game of beach volleyball or try you patience and learn to windsurf. Day 7 (Road Trip 7) : Depart Grand Beach - Arrive Winnipeg Departing from the beach in late afternoon, it's T-minus 90 minutes to civilization. After your time in the wilds, you'll probably be interested in hitting the patios on Corydon Avenue before you make your way east or west. |
