Festival hopping, shopping and partying on the patio is the name of the game in "the Peg City" during the summer. You'll want to hit Corydon Avenue, the Exchange District and The Forks for nightly libations and you should definitely plan to be in Winnipeg for one of these three summer festivals;

Activities/Things to Do

Learn how to canoe in a day with Northern Soul Wilderness Adventures.

Race around the track or play minigolf at Thunder Rapids Amusement Park.

Hit the bleachers and take in a Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball game or a Winnipeg Blue Bombers football game.

See first hand the North American fascination with stock cars by watching the pros at Victory Lane Speedway.

Or try the racing for yourself on the go-karts at Grand Prix Amusements.

If that's not fast enough, get out to the Winnipeg Skydiving Centre and experience  terminal velocity - $215 get you a tandem jump from 9000 feet!

On a hot day, cool down by getting your trunks wet at Fun Mountain Waterslide Park.

See where your money comes from at The Royal Canadian Mint.  With coins being made for 60 countries, chances are your currency was made here!

Explore the history of Manitoba and Canada at The Manitoba Museum or visit the Golden Boy through a guided tour at The Manitoba Legislature.

Looking to avoid a rainy day?  The Winnipeg Art Gallery will help you out there.

Or for sports fans, how about the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum?

Learn about Winnipeg's boomtown history with an Exchange District Walking Tour.

Want to spend a warm evening outside?  Check out the Assiniboia Downs horse race track.  Watch the thrill of the races while the sun sets on the prairie wheat fields.  Admission is free.

Visit Assiniboine Park and join a pick up game of one of the several sports locals play.  Looking for a cool treat afterwords? Walk the footbridge to Sargent Sundae.

Events


The Ex is in June and is for all those who love roller coasters, rides, games, and cotton candy.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival takes place in July and features over 60 acts, many of them world-class.

Winnipeg's Fringe Theatre Festival offers up continuous entertainment between noon and midnight daily in late July.

Folklorama is the largest multicultural event of its kind in the world.  Definitely check this out if you're in the city in August.
